FORMULA3 officially begins

The NSF awards supporting FORMULA3 started on October 1, 2026, launching a three-year U.S.–Finland collaboration that runs through September 2029.

The NSF awards supporting FORMULA3, No. 2549087 (Tennessee Tech University) and No. 2549088 (Texas A&M University), started on October 1, 2026. They launch a three-year U.S.–Finland collaboration with New York University, Tampere University, and Aalto University that runs through September 2029. The Finnish partners are funded by the Research Council of Finland: Tampere University (Decision No. 380594) and Aalto University (Decision No. 380600).

The first phase of the plan focuses on Thrust 1: building hybrid FR3 testbeds with reconfigurable intelligent surfaces and metallic reflector arrays at Texas A&M and Tampere, and running the channel measurement campaign. Those measurements will feed the simulation platform and the AI models developed later in the project. See the full timeline.
